Search engine optimisation sounds technical, but the idea is simple: help Google understand your website, and give searchers the most useful answer to their question. Do that consistently and rankings follow.
This guide walks through what actually matters in 2026, in the order we tackle it for our own clients.
1. Start with what people actually search
Every SEO project begins with keyword research — finding the words your customers type into Google. The goal is not the biggest keywords; it is the ones that match what you sell and show clear intent to buy.
- Informational searches ("how to choose a CA") are great for blog content.
- Commercial searches ("best CA firm in Jaipur") suit service and comparison pages.
- Transactional searches ("CA near me", "GST registration fees") should land on a page with a clear way to contact you.
Free tools like Google Search Console and the "People also ask" box on Google are surprisingly good places to start.
2. Fix the technical foundation
If Google cannot crawl or understand your site, nothing else matters. Check these first:
- Indexing: open Search Console and confirm your important pages are indexed.
- Speed: pages should load quickly on a mid-range phone over 4G. Compress images, remove unused plugins and use caching.
- Mobile experience: Google ranks the mobile version of your site, so it must be easy to read and tap.
- HTTPS: every page should load securely.
- Clean structure: one clear H1 per page, logical headings, and descriptive URLs like
/services/seo-services/. - Structured data: schema markup helps Google show rich results such as FAQs and business details.
3. Write pages that genuinely answer the question
Google’s systems reward content written for people, not for search engines. For every important page, ask: if I searched this, would this page fully answer me?
Good pages usually:
- Answer the main question early, then go deeper.
- Use real examples from your business and city.
- Include prices, timelines or steps where relevant — vague pages rarely rank.
- Are kept up to date.
Avoid copying competitors or publishing many thin pages that say the same thing for different cities. That pattern now tends to hurt more than it helps.
4. Win local searches
For most Indian businesses, local SEO brings the fastest results. When someone searches "web designer near me" or "dentist in Mansarovar", Google shows a map pack first.
To appear there:
- Claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile — category, services, hours, photos.
- Keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere online.
- Ask happy customers for reviews, and reply to every review.
- Create a page on your site for each location you genuinely serve.
5. Earn links, don’t buy them
Links from other relevant websites still act as votes of confidence. The safe way to earn them:
- Get listed in genuine local and industry directories.
- Partner with suppliers, associations or local media.
- Publish useful guides, tools or data others want to reference.
Paid link packages and private blog networks are risky and can lead to penalties.
6. Measure what matters
Rankings are a means, not the goal. Track:
- Organic clicks and impressions in Search Console.
- Enquiries and calls from organic visitors in Google Analytics 4.
- Positions for your top 10–20 money keywords, monthly rather than daily.
SEO usually takes three to six months to show meaningful movement, depending on competition and where your site starts.
The short version
Make your site fast and crawlable, write the most useful page for each topic, own your local presence, and earn links honestly. It is not a trick — it is steady, compounding work.
If you would rather have a team handle it, our SEO services cover all of the above with plain monthly reporting.
